Only the Steam figure is a number this site can hold to, because Valve publishes it through the store API. Console prices are regional and set per storefront, so check the store page for your region rather than trusting a converted figure.

Is $29.99 the right price for this game?
Judge it on content rather than on genre. The remaster ships the full 1999 level set — over 40 levels across four villages — plus vehicle stages, a boss rush of five named Guardians and Baron Dante, and a digital museum with design documents and interviews that most remasters sell separately or skip entirely.
For comparison inside the same genre, a $29.99 price is the middle of the band for a remaster of a 1990s platformer with added museum content. If you only want the platforming, the value depends on whether you played the original; if you like production material, the Croc2pedia is a large part of what you are buying. The Croc2pedia page covers what is inside it.
Platform differences that matter
There are no exclusive levels, no platform-specific characters and no timed content. The differences are practical:
- PC gives you achievements, Steam Cloud saves and the ability to run the game on a handheld PC. The Steam Deck page covers the hardware question.
- PlayStation splits across PS5 and PS4, so a last-generation console still gets the game.
- Xbox is listed as Series X/S only, not Xbox One.
- Switch is the only portable console version, and the only one where you cannot check the 16 GB RAM requirement before buying.
What the PC version needs
Steam lists a 64-bit Windows 10 machine with 16 GB of RAM and 24 GB of free storage. There is no separate GPU requirement in the listing, which is unusual and worth reading carefully — the system requirements page explains what that means in practice.
Buying checklist
- Confirm your platform is on the list above; Xbox One is not.
- If you are on PC, check the RAM before anything else. 16 GB is the minimum, not a recommendation.
- Do not wait for a launch discount. Valve shows no discount on the launch build.
- If you want the museum and documentary, they are included in every version, so there is no premium tier to hunt for.
