PC requirements: 16 GB RAM, 24 GB storage
Steam lists a 64-bit Windows 10 machine with 16 GB of RAM and 24 GB of free storage as the minimum; it publishes no separate GPU requirement and no other recommended spec.
The numbers Steam publishes
Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos has a short requirement list, and one number on it is unusual: 16 GB of RAM as a minimum. That is high for a cartoon platformer, and it is the spec worth checking before you buy.
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 | Not listed separately |
| Processor | Not listed | Not listed |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | — |
| Graphics | Not listed | — |
| Storage | 24 GB available space | 24 GB available space |
| Notes | Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system | — |
Steam's recommended block repeats only the 64-bit requirement, which means Valve has one meaningful tier here rather than two. There is no separate GPU line, no VRAM figure and no listed CPU model.
What 16 GB actually means
Sixteen gigabytes is the point where a machine stops being an office laptop. Most 8 GB laptops will not run this comfortably, and the ones that do will be swapping to disk — which is exactly the stutter people report as "bad optimisation" on new releases.
Two practical checks before you buy:
- Confirm the installed RAM, not the maximum. A laptop that supports 32 GB but ships with 8 GB does not meet the minimum.
- Check the storage type. 24 GB is the install size; on a mechanical drive, load times in a game with 40-plus levels are the difference between playing and waiting.
The missing GPU line
No graphics card is listed, which is unusual and worth reading carefully. It does not mean the game runs on anything: it means the publisher chose not to publish a GPU floor, so the safe assumption is that any discrete GPU from the last several years, and any recent integrated chip with shared memory, will run it — while a 2013-era integrated GPU is a gamble.
If you are on a laptop with integrated graphics, the 16 GB RAM minimum is effectively your gate. Meet that and you have a reasonable chance; miss it and no GPU will save you.
Storage and load behaviour
24 GB is a normal install for a remaster of this size, and it does not include save data or the museum's video content if that streams from disk. Budget 30 GB of free space rather than exactly 24, so Windows has room to breathe and patches have somewhere to land.
Console players
None of this applies to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S or Switch, where the hardware is fixed. The one platform where the PC specs matter indirectly is Switch: it is the portable option that does not require you to check RAM at all. The Steam Deck page covers the handheld PC case.
If the game will not start
The three usual causes, in order: less than 16 GB of RAM, a 32-bit Windows install, and a GPU driver older than the game. Check the first two before you touch drivers, because they are the ones the store page is actually warning you about.
Where to read next
The platforms and price page has the storefront list, and the Steam Deck page explains what the same specs mean on a handheld.
